RECREATIONAL COACH DEVELOPMENT Recreational Coach Development

The USTA offers two unique types of trainings: Recreational Coach Workshops and Recreational QuickStart Tennis Workshops. Both are taught by expert trainers who will help prepare coaches and instructors to provide an exceptional tennis experience.

A Recreational Coach Workshop is an interactive, on-court training program designed for coaches, instructors and parents working with players of all ages at the recreational level. These workshops are an excellent primer for new coaches as well as a valuable refresher course for those with teaching experience but who seek more current methods and effective tools. This active 6-hour session covers:

Instant Rally Progression for teaching strokes
Large group management
The QuickStart Tennis format
Running effective team practices
The Top 10 Games Every Coach Should Know

A Recreational QuickStart Tennis Workshop is a 3.5 hour interactive, on-court training for coaches, instructors and parents who work with children ages 10 and under. The topics covered in this session include:

Extensive coverage of the QuickStart Tennis play format including age appropriate play situations and games for 5-6 year olds, 7-8 year olds & 9-10 year olds
Recreational QuickStart Tennis Practice Plans
Organizing/coaching a junior team match

Consider Hosting a Workshop

Hosting an on-court training workshop for instructors, coaches and volunteers is a very rewarding experience. Recreational Coach Workshops are geared towards those working primarily with players of all ages while Recreational QuickStart Tennis Workshops are geared towards those working primarily with children ages 10 and under. As a Host site of either workshop you will receive exclusive benefits from the USTA:

Certified trainer at no cost to the workshop host
Customizable marketing materials to promote the workshop
Written curriculum materials for workshop participants
$500 voucher for the painting of permanent QuickStart Tennis lines
Financial reimbursement based upon completed evaluations (RCW only)

If your Park & Recreation Agency, Club, NJTL, Community Tennis Association or other organization is interested in hosting one of these workshops, check out the organizer requirements, then submit an online application to the USTA. Be sure to let USTA Colorado Community Development know if you are hosting a workshop so we can assist with promotions.
